Maanam is a Polish rock band formed in 1976 by Marek Jackowski, Kora (Olga Jackowska) and Milo Kurtis. They started out along acoustic lines but by 1980
changed their style to electric.  Since then they have produced some of the hottest music in Poland and have been among the top acts for the past 25 years.

Their music continued to evolve. In the early 80s, their music focused on guitar-centered, post-funk sound.   Kora's hard-edged vocals were an example the female
pop vocalists of the time. It demonstrated how perfectly the consonant-laden Polish language is to rock music.  In 1984, Maanam's "Sie ściemnia" was broadcast on
international MTV, the first  Polish music video to reach that pinnacle of success.  Maanam of the 80s is in a class by itself. Their music is a hybrid of sorts, borrowing
styles from Nina Hagen, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Blondie. By the 1990s, their music became more melodic and catchy.  In 2007, Kora announced that the
band would break for an undetermined amount of time, and since then Marek and Kora have been performing with other musicians.  Guitarist Janusz Iwański played
with the group for some time.
