Welcome to POLISH CULTURE! This new feature is devoted to showcasing the many facets of
Polish Music. In time I will also add features about Polish Arts, Film, and so much more! This
website has been created by the same administrator as Polish Greatness.com
Here you will discover the many talented and wonderful Polish artists who have inspired and
fascinated the world with their truly amazing gifts. Composers such as Frederic Chopin and
Mieczyslaw Horszowski; jazz greats such as Tomasz Stanko and Adam Makowicz; stellar
performers of the Opera as well as a sampling of current superstars in the realm of Pop, Rock,
Reggae, Hip Hop, and more! Among these groups is one very interesting Polish Country Music
band called Zayazd whose blend of country-folk-rock-pop includes the violin and electric guitar! I
have a special feature presenting several of their music videos. One in particular deserves your
attention - a ballad called Ostatni List, the Last Letter. All I will say is that it's about the Katyn
Massacre of World War II. Watch the video and let me know what you think!
The planning and work for this special feature has been exhausting yet very exhilarating. I have
gone through literally hundreds of videos to select the very best that Polish music has to offer. It was
a daunting task as there are so many Polish artists and songs to choose from that I could not
include them all. It was disappointing to have to omit so many great Polish artists, but it gives me
the opportunity to present a few of them in future web updates.
Almost all the music videos are in Polish but that should not be an obstacle as music is truly an
international language. Polish groups have enormous popularity in Europe but unfortunately has
less recognition in Canada and the United States. The Polish music industry is a vast empire and
has a varied repertoire for every musical taste. With this in mind I have selected artists from almost
every category to suit everyone's musical preferences. Even punk rock! Although I have not
included any music videos of heavy metal groups I have not ruled out the possibility of adding them
in a future edition of this website.
In the left margin is the Music Directory listing all the categories of music that you will find on this
website. Merely click on your preference and you will be introduced to a spectacular selection of
artists with video clips of their greatest hits. (For each artist I have embedded two videos - with
some exceptions.) There are also biographies detailing their rise to fame, and many interesting,
surprising and sometimes shocking and tragic stories about them.
I have also added links to many radio stations in Poland. They are also in Polish, but I urge you to
tune in. You will love it! I promise to add some English-speaking Polish radio stations in the near
future.
I have enjoyed myself so much listening to Polish music of all genres and learning about each of the
artists. I hope you all share the same enthusiasm and become as big a fan of Polish music as I am.
Just one more note: the videos have been tested and all of them load, however, sometimes it may
take a few seconds longer so please be patient.
