Jan A. P. Kaczmarek - Unfaithful
Jan Andrzej Paweł Kaczmarek  was born on 29 April 1953 in Konin, Poland. He is a celebrated Polish composer and has written scores for over fifty
major films and documentaries including "Finding Neverland", "Unfaithful", "Evening", "The Visitor", and "Washington Square".

Kaczmarek is a graduate in law-studies  from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.  In the 1970s he worked with Jerzy Grotowski’s Theater
Laboratory, and created the Orchestra of the Eighth Day.  In 1982 he recorded his first album, Music for the End with Flying Fish Records. In 1989 he
moved to Los Angelos.  He won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music in a Play  in 1992, for his music 'Tis Pity She's a Whore.  His music was
released by Sony Classical, Decca, Varese Sarabande, Verve, Epic, Milan, and Savitor Records. He has given concerts in the U.S. and Europe.

Kaczmarek received the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2005 for "Finding Neverland", directed by Marc Forster. He also won the National Board
of Review award for Best Score of the Year and was nominated for a Golden Globe and the BAFTA’s Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music.
He has also written two symphonic and choral pieces for which he was commissioned for two important national occasions in Poland: "Cantata for Freedom"
in 2005 was written to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Solidarity movement, and "Oratorio 1956" written in 2006 to commemorate the fiftieth
anniversary of a bloody uprising in Poznan against the Communist regime.  Both premiers were broadcast live on Polish national television.

Kaczmarek is a member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, European Film Academy and Polish Film Academy

Since April 2007, Kaczmarek has been working to set up an institute in Poland, inspired by the Sundance Institute which he hopes will serve as a European
center for the development of new work in film, theater, music and new media. The Instytut Rozbitek (Rozbitek Institute) is scheduled to officially open in
2010.
