II Polish Corps Facts and Statistics

    The Polish Army was the 4th largest in Europe in World War II.

    They numbered over 75,000 men, and 1,500 women serving as Auxiliary. The majority of
    soldiers consisted of Polish citizens who were detained in Soviet prison camps. Of some 1.5
    million prisoners taken by the Red Army, Stalin released only about 100,000.
